I created this blog to share some of the things I did to change my life after my cancer diagnosis. I had to take a real hard look at the way I was living and change because the path I was taking was killing me.  Cancer woke me up. Our bodies are always telling us something, but are we listening? Prevention is the best cure for any disease, so I plan to share the things I have learned along the way in order to help you heal your own life.

Courtney's Testimonial for Mainly Greens

Before I met Traci, I was struggling with controlling my Endometriosis symptoms. I knew that I could make my symptoms better by making healthier choices, but wasn’t getting anywhere on my own! After working with Traci I have lost weight (without even trying) and I feel like my food choices are healing me! It feels good to finally know what healthy feels like!

  • I had a good mix going with this juice and wanted to share. This is a great time of year to experiment with new fruits and vegetables. The farmers markets are busting at the seems right now. •
The Concord grape has been making the cut in my juice ingredients. The flavor is out of this world. They have seeds so I can’t inhale them when I’m eating like I really want to do, but juicing is another good way to get all the benefits of what this fruit has to offer. They call this grape, “queen of the fruits”. It has a high concentration of antioxidants that help keep us youthful. It protects our skin, brain, and heart from inflammation and aging. •
Juice ingredients:
🥒1 cucumber
🌱10 celery stalks
🌱2 large leaves of rainbow chard 🌱2 leaves of kohlrabi
🌱4 leaves of mint
🌱2 small beets
🌱ginger root
🌱turmeric root
🌱about 30 Concord grapes
🌱quarter of a lemon

  • I posted this recipe a while back but get so many questions about it I thought it was worth a second post. We love this granola so much we barely can keep it in the pantry. It’s perfect for a fast treat and it’s super filling. We added creamy peanut butter to this recipe and it just pairs perfectly together.
Ingredients:
✔️4 cups of dry rolled oats
✔️1 cup of coconut flakes
✔️1 cup of pure maple syrup ✔️1 cup of creamy peanut butter
✔️ 4 tbs of honey
✔️4 tbs of maple sugar or coconut sugar
✔️4 tsp of cinnamon ✔️4 tsp of vanilla extract
•
Directions: add all ingredients together and heat in a pan for 1-3 minutes. Then place on a baking sheet (I use wax paper). •
Bake in oven at 275 for 35 minutes or until crunchy. Let cool overnight and then store in and air tight container and enjoy!

  • I have to admit, we have gotten kohlrabi in our CSA weekly share in years past and I really had no idea what to do with this odd looking vegetable so it just sat in my fridge until it went bad and I eventually threw it in the garbage. Today when I picked up my veggies I decided to do a little research on how to eat it and also looked for the health benefits.....and to my surprise I not only loved the taste but also loved all the healing properties that comes with it. •
✅ helps improve digestion
✅ reduces strain on your cardiovascular system
✅ improves metabolism ✅ great for eye sight •
I paired it with sprinkling Pink Himalayan salt and I found myself a good little snack. Kids even liked it. Believe it or not, pink Himalayan salt is great for hot days like today to regulate hydration. It also helps maintaining blood pressure. •
